Mavis Camera supports the Cyanview RCP, allowing compatible camera controls to be operated remotely from a professional broadcast control panel.
This is particularly useful in multi-camera productions where a vision engineer needs to control and match several cameras from one position. The Cyanview RCP provides physical controls and a touchscreen interface for making fast, precise adjustments without touching the iPhone.
What is the Cyanview RCP?
The Cyanview RCP is a network-connected remote camera control panel designed for broadcast camera shading.
A single panel can control multiple supported cameras over an IP network. Its physical controls provide direct access to commonly used camera settings, while the touchscreen provides access to additional functions.
When connected to Mavis Camera, the RCP can be used to adjust supported camera settings remotely. For example, the RCP’s master gain control can adjust ISO in Mavis Camera.
Requirements
Before starting, ensure you have:
- The latest version of Mavis Camera
- The Mavis Camera Film Kit in-app purchase
- A Cyanview RCP running the latest available software
- A computer or other device with a web browser
- An iPhone running Mavis Camera
- A local network that can be accessed by the RCP, browser and iPhone
Important: The Cyanview RCP, the device used to open its configuration page and the iPhone running Mavis Camera must be connected to the same local network.
Connecting the Cyanview RCP
- Connect the Cyanview RCP to the network power it on.
- Wait for the panel to receive power and finish starting.
- Make sure the iPhone running Mavis Camera is connected to the same network.
- Connect the computer or device that will be used for configuration to the same network.
For more information about connecting and powering the panel, see Cyanview’s IP camera connection guide.
Finding the Cyanview RCP IP address
The RCP displays its network addresses while starting. If your network uses DHCP, use the displayed DHCP Address.
You can also find the address from the RCP by opening:
Menu > System > Info
Important: Do not use the Firmware IP Address. This is an internal address and cannot be used to open the RCP configuration page.
- Open a web browser on a device connected to the same network.
- Enter the RCP’s DHCP or network IP address in the browser address bar.
- Confirm that the Cyanview Configuration Web UI opens.
See Cyanview’s getting-started guide for additional information about finding the panel’s address.
Finding the iPhone IP address
The iPhone’s local IP address can be found using either iOS Settings or Mavis Camera.
Using iOS Settings
- Open the iPhone Settings app.
- Tap Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
- If using Wi-Fi, tap the info button next to the connected network.
- Scroll down and note the displayed IP Address.
Using Mavis Camera
- Open Mavis Camera.
- Tap the More button- the three dots at the top of the screen - and then tap Settings.
- Scroll down and tap Device Network Info.
- Note the displayed IP Address.
Adding Mavis Camera to the Cyanview RCP
Ensure that the Cyanview RCP is running the latest software before continuing. The Mavis Camera options may not be available in older versions.
- Open the Cyanview Configuration Web UI using the RCP’s IP address.
- Open the Configuration tab.
- Find the Camera section.
- Select the plus button in the top-right corner of the Camera section.
- Enter a camera number and name if required.
- Set Brand to Mavis.
- Set Model to Mavis Camera.
- Enter the iPhone’s local IP address in the IP Address field.
- Press Enter or confirm the address.
Enabling CyanView RCP in Mavis Camera
- Open Mavis Camera.
- Tap the More button and then tap Settings.
- Scroll down and tap Remotes.
- Switch on CyanView RCP.
The RCP should now connect to Mavis Camera. The Cyanview camera indicator should turn green when Mavis Camera is available and the connection has been configured successfully.
Testing the connection
You can test the connection by using one of the RCP’s control options, for example master gain control to adjust ISO in Mavis Camera.
- Return to the main camera interface in Mavis Camera.
- Press Mode on the Cyanview RCP.
- Select M_Gain.
- Turn the exposure control on the RCP.
- Confirm that the ISO value changes in Mavis Camera.
If the ISO changes, the RCP and Mavis Camera are communicating correctly.
Troubleshooting
The Cyanview configuration page does not open
- Confirm that the RCP has finished starting.
- Check that the RCP and browser are connected to the same local network.
- Use the RCP’s DHCP or network IP address.
- Do not use the Firmware IP Address.
- Check the Ethernet connection and confirm that the PoE switch or injector is supplying power.
Mavis is not available as a camera brand
- Ensure the Cyanview RCP is running the latest available software.
- Refresh the Configuration Web UI after updating.
- If the page does not display all configuration fields, perform a hard refresh or clear the browser cache.
The RCP does not connect to Mavis Camera
- Confirm that the iPhone and RCP are connected to the same local network.
- Check that the correct iPhone IP address was entered in the Cyanview configuration.
- Confirm that CyanView RCP is switched on under Settings > Remotes.
- Confirm that the Film Kit has been purchased or restored.
- If the iPhone received a new DHCP address, update its IP address in the Cyanview configuration.
- Restart Mavis Camera and test the connection again.
