Check out this video of Mavis Co-Founder, Dr Phil, as he dives into the audio system inside Mavis Camera:
The Mavis Camera audio controls can be accessed via either the "Audio" button or by tapping on the main VU meters (when visible). The audio mixer can be controlled in two modes; simple and advanced. By default the mixer will open in simple mode.
Important: Mavis Camera includes an audio mixer. This means that multiple channels can be controlled but these will be mixed down to a stereo output. For more information about audio basics in Mavis Camera, check out this support article: Audio Basics
Output Levels
At the top of the audio control panel is the output levels.
These are the levels for the output of the mixer - it is this signal that is recorded or streamed as the Master audio tracks (e.g. stereo left and right). The output levels in the audio control panel are designed to be simple and to check the presence or balance of a signal (for reference levels use the VUs available from the Monitor Tools).
Monitor Channel
Next to the output levels is a speaker icon . Tapping this enables the monitor channel. The monitor channel allows you to preview the mixer output. This channel will be routed to a currently available speaker selected by iOS. If no bluetooth or USB devices are connected the default speaker will be the internal iPhone. If you connect an audio device with a different output (e.g. headphones) the monitor channel will be automatically routed to this device.
Input Device / Channels
In the centre of the audio control panel is the input device / channels.
A device will appear with a name and a number of channels, represented by microphone icons. Tapping the microphone will mute that channel as an input into the mixer.
Reset and Advanced Audio
Towards the bottom of the audio control panel is two buttons. At the bottom left is the "Reset" button . This resets the audio mixer mixer back to defaults and is useful if you want to clear out all audio mixer settings or if you can't hear any audio and don't understand why. At the bottom right is the "Advanced Audio" button
. Tapping this button will open up an expanded audio control panel with more advanced features. For more information about the Advanced Audio features, checkout this support article: Advanced Audio
