Mavis Studio supports up to four camera inputs in each Show. These appear in the multiview as sources named Camera 1 to Camera 4.
A camera input is a live signal that can be assigned to one of these sources and then used like any other source in the Show. Once connected, it can be cut to Program, loaded into Preview, or used inside a Layout.
To connect a camera input, tap the settings button in the top right of a camera source in the multiview. From there, choose how that source should connect.
Mavis Studio supports three camera input types.
- Mavis Camera allows an iPhone running Mavis Camera to send video and audio directly into Mavis Studio. Before it can connect, Mavis Camera must be set to Mavis Studio mode on the iPhone.
- Mavis Cloud Hub allows compatible paired devices to appear as camera inputs through a Mavis account. This is useful for remote contribution as well as local workflows.
- NDI allows Mavis Studio to receive video and audio from compatible devices on the local network. When NDI discovery is opened, nearby devices appear in a list and can be assigned to any camera input.
If this is the first time using local network discovery, iPadOS may ask for permission to access devices on the local network. This must be allowed before nearby sources can be found.
Camera input performance depends on network quality. Wired networking usually gives the most reliable results, especially for the iPad itself. Wireless sources can work very well, but weaker networks may increase latency or reduce stability.
Mavis Studio automatically synchronises connected camera inputs, so timing is usually handled automatically.
