Alongside camera inputs, players, layouts, colours, and web graphics, Mavis Studio includes a number of built-in utility sources.
These sources are useful for testing, setup, transitions, and general workflow support.
- Black is a plain black source. It is useful for cuts to black, pauses, or simple background use inside a Layout.
- Bars is a standard bars source used for setup and testing.
- Test Signal is an internally generated animated source. It is useful for checking that switching, layouts, and outputs are behaving as expected before live sources are connected. Because it moves, it is often more useful than a static image when checking whether a path is working correctly.
- No Signal represents the absence of a live input. It can be useful as a placeholder or as part of troubleshooting.
- Video Wipe is a special source used for video-based transitions. Rather than acting as a normal source, it is used as part of a transition between sources. When a video wipe transition is selected, this source provides the media used for that transition.
These built-in sources make the video system more flexible and support setup, testing, and more advanced production workflows.
