NDI allows Mavis Studio to send and receive video and audio over a network.
In Mavis Studio, NDI can be used in two ways. It can be used to receive sources into the Show, and it can be used to send a source out of the Show to another device on the local network.
This makes NDI useful for connecting cameras, computers, monitors, recorders, and other compatible systems without needing a direct video cable.
Mavis Studio is designed primarily for HD workflows. NDI sources up to 4K can be received, but the Mavis Studio output is always HD. For this reason, higher-resolution NDI sources should be tested in the real production setup before use and multiple simultaneous 4K NDI inputs will most likely fail due to insufficient bandwidth and processing available on iPad.
For most workflows, NDI HX3 is the preferred choice. It is more efficient on network bandwidth, processing, and battery use. Full bandwidth NDI can also be received, but because it places greater demands on the network and device, it should be tested carefully before use.
NDI features are part of the NDI-enabled version of Mavis Studio.
