A Show is the production you create with Mavis Studio. It is both the live setup being built and the file used to save that setup.
When setting up a Show, it helps to think in terms of a few core ideas: sources, switching, audio, and outputs.
A source is any piece of video that can be used in the Show. Some sources are external, such as camera sources coming in through NDI, Mavis Camera, or Mavis Cloud Hub. Other sources are internal, such as Media Players, Image Players, Web Graphics, colour sources, test signals, and Layouts.
These sources are selected and switched in the multiview, where they can be sent to Program or Preview. Program is the live output of the Show, while Preview is the next source ready to be taken.
Audio is handled alongside video. Camera sources and Media Players can bring audio into the Show, and that audio is managed through the built-in audio mixer. The audio mixer allows levels, grouping, and sound shaping to be adjusted before and during production.
Finally, the Show needs to be sent somewhere. This is where outputs come in. A Show can be streamed, recorded, or sent to local outputs such as NDI or HDMI.
A simple way to set up a Show is:
- connect the sources needed
- build the visual setup in the multiview
- check and adjust audio
- choose where the Show will go by setting up recording, streaming, or another output
Once these parts are in place, the Show is ready to run.
