Mavis Studio includes several ways to move from Preview to Program.
The simplest is Cut. A cut is instant. Whatever is in Preview is taken directly to Program with no visible transition.
The next is Mix. A mix transitions from Preview to Program over time, blending one source into the other. This is useful for smoother changes between shots.
Mavis Studio also includes a faux T-bar. This is the long transition control next to the transition buttons. It works like a manual transition bar, allowing a transition to be performed by hand instead of automatically. This makes it possible to control the speed and position of the transition directly.
By default, the transition type is set to Mix, but this can be changed using the transition settings button located at the top right of the transition button.
Available transition types include:
- Mix
- Wipe
- Circle
- Video Wipe
A Wipe moves one source over another in a directional transition.
A Circle creates a circular reveal between sources.
A Video Wipe uses a video file as the transition itself. This makes it possible to create more designed or branded transition effects. Where supported, video wipes can use alpha channel media. The transition cuts at the midpoint of the wipe.
All of these transitions can be triggered automatically with the transition button or controlled manually with the faux T-bar.
If the same transition is triggered repeatedly, Mavis Studio swaps Program and Preview each time. This makes it easy to alternate between two prepared sources.
