Mavis Studio can use NDI as a live source input.
In practice, this means an NDI source on the local network can be assigned to one of the four camera inputs in the Show. Once connected, it behaves like any other camera source and can be cut to Program, loaded into Preview, or used inside a Layout.
To connect an NDI source, tap the settings button on a camera input and choose Find NDI devices. Mavis Studio will scan the local network and show the available NDI sources.
Once selected, that NDI source becomes the live source for that camera input. Video and audio are both brought into Mavis Studio.
For most workflows, NDI HX3 is the recommended receive format. It is generally more efficient and better suited to mobile production because it uses less network bandwidth and places less load on the device.
Full bandwidth NDI can also be received. This may be useful in some workflows, but it uses significantly more bandwidth and processing, so it should be tested carefully before production.
Mavis Studio can receive 4K NDI sources, but the app is designed primarily for HD production and the output is always HD.
As with any network source, performance depends on the quality of the local network. Stronger and more stable connections usually give the best results. Poorer network conditions may increase latency or reduce stability.
